Pet Information and Care
The yellow tang is a standard fish for salt-water aquariums. It is hardy, fairly resistant to disease, and in general a good citizen for either a fish-only or reef aquarium.
Tangs are also called surgeon fish due to the scalpel-like spine at the base of its tail. The territorial tang will swipe its tail at a target as a means of defense. It is a radiant canary yellow and is widespread from Hawaii to Indonesia and the Great Barrier Reef. A tank with plenty of live rock and decor to provide several hiding spots and a wide area for swimming is recommended.
