O'Malley and his guardian Christine were walking in Central Park, when I met them. O'Malley is over 14 years old and Christine said he's just calm and he likes people to pet his head.
And then, O'Malley walked closer to me and bowed down a bit, waiting for me to pet his head. What a calm and nice dog! When asked why she picked O'Malley.
Christine replied, "Well originally, when he was at the shelter, the photo - he looked spry and kinda young. Normally, I just foster pets. It was my intention to foster him. I figured he'd be adopted quickly. But then, we discovered he had a lot of medical problems. As a result of that, he's unadoptable because he has to go to the vet everyday. So I've taken him on."
When I said goodbye, O'Malley looked like he wanted to be pet again and so I did. We need more people like Christine who adopted a senior pet that needs a little extra care.
