More Photos of Olive:

When photographing pets, the most challenging part is to get them too look at the camera.  When I asked Phil if I can take a picture of his pooch Olive, she looked at me without hesistation.

Is she five months old?

She was born on May 12, so she is actually almost seven months.

And what breed is she?

She is mixed between a Shih Tzu and a Yorkie.

Where and why did you get Olive?

My girlfriend Hannah got her from a friend. She knew a breeder, I guess, they had a couple of puppies. I dunno, I was not really involved in getting her.

So it's actually your girlfriend's idea to get a dog?

We both wanted one. We were going to get one for her 25th birthday, which is next April. But we saw her when she was just a puppy. So we decided to get her.

What's Olive like?

She's really smart. She's pretty young and she's already learned ways to trick us into getting treats.

For example, we crate-trained her. So everytime she goes into the crate, we give her treats just to associate it with something good. Sometimes, she'll just go into the crate by herself and get her treat and then, she'll run off to the other side before we can close it in.

But she's really nice.

What has Olive added to your relationship?

Definitely it's a good thing. We wanted to get out of the house more. But before we had a dog, we would just spend our weekends inside, sitting around, watching Netflix or whatever.

Now she forces you to get out and it's actually really nice.

How often do you walk her?

Four or five times a day.

That much? That's a lot.

Yeah. She's also so small that she's got a tiny bladder.

Phil carried Olive while I took more pictures.  This time she looked more confident, as if she knew that she was being photograph.  Olive is photogenic, one can tell from her photos that she is curious and very sweet.  Even though it wasn't the planned time yet, I can understand why Phil and Hannah decided to go ahead and get her.  Who can refuse adorable Olive who is always ready for her closeup?
